Coffee Chats is a series of short reflections inspired by my personal experiences. Everyday rituals and the thoughts that occasionally emerge over a cup of my coffee. This time, I am celebrating the Monday blues. The typical start of a new week, but with a big smile and a new autumn outfit.
“Life gives you Monday, dip it in glitter and sparkle all day.” — Ella Woodward
There is something about Monday mornings which makes us anxious. Whether you have to show up to work on time or you are self-employed, aka a self-organized person like me, Monday hurts the same.
The question is: how can we cope with this back-to-reality melancholy? My remedy?
A good cup of coffee, an autumn outfit that makes me feel like myself, and a reminder that the week doesn’t need to begin with a grand plan. Sometimes, it can begin with a small reset.
The Monday Blues Are Real, but So Are the Little Joys

Perhaps sometimes we put too much pressure on the beginning. Perhaps the beginning of a new week doesn’t always need another challenge. Perhaps it needs a little room to breathe.
I have been thinking about how easily we overlook the small pleasures of ordinary morning rituals. The familiar sound of coffee brewing in our favorite moka pot. Sunlight finding its way through the window and straight onto our face. A favorite song playing while we get ready in a new autumn outfit. And our little coffee chats.
None of these things will magically resolve a difficult week, but they can make the beginning feel a little more welcoming.
An Autumn Fit Check: Dressing Up for Yourself

Let’s talk about getting dressed.
Some mornings, choosing an outfit feels like another decision we cannot be bothered to make. On others, putting together a combination of colors, textures and our favorite pieces becomes a small creative exercise.
Today I fell for the season’s most in-color, ‘chocolate brown’ , to kill the Monday blues.
A casual yet stylish chocolate brown dress by Zara. For accessories, I picked long black boots, a fringed cross-body bag (another accessory of the season), and statement brown earrings. And last but not least, my black leather jacket to protect me from the autumn winds.
A Little Coffee Chat Before You Go

So, here is your Monday reminder from Big Red Cuppa: you are allowed to find joy in the little things, even when life feels busy.
You are allowed to dress for your own pleasure, take a quick coffee break and make an ordinary morning feel a little special.
And you are allowed to have a slow start without planning the entire week or the day.
This autumn, perhaps we can approach Mondays with a little less pressure and a little more curiosity.
Because sometimes, the best way to face the Monday blues is not to fight the whole week before it begins.
Sometimes, it is simply to make yourself a cuppa.
Your turn: What is your Monday blues remedy? A favorite outfit, a strong coffee, a comforting playlist, a small coffee chat with a loved one?
Tell me in the comments. I’d love to hear about the little rituals that help you begin again.
Until our next Coffee Chat, here’s to finding joy in the everyday.
~ Maham, Big Red Cuppa
Sometimes, easing into a new week is about more than finding the right outfit or making a good cup of coffee. It is also about slowing down, reconsidering our expectations and finding our own rhythm. In another Coffee Chats reflection, Realising Dreams in the Loops of Life, I explore the delicate balance between pursuing our dreams and learning when to let go.
